Palace get into spot of bother at Bournemouth

Crystal Palace conceded a late penalty to go down 2-1 at AFC Bournemouth.

With just three minutes left, Palace defender Mamadou Sakho raised his arm into the face of Jefferson Lerma in the area and Junior Stanislas put away the resulting penalty.

Bournemouth took the lead after just five minutes when David Brooks arrowed in a fine goal that went in off the crossbar past his Welsh teammate Wayne Hennessey.

The Cherries dominated the opening period as Roy Hodgson's men failed to get into gear but they only had the one-goal advantage at the break.

Palace improved after the interval and levelled the scores in the 55th minute when Patrick van Aanholt fired in a right-footed shot into the roof of the net. The Dutchman appeared marginally offside but was given the benefit of the doubt by the linesman.

Hennessey denied Callum Wilson a near-certain goal with his out-stretched boot in a one-on-one after the hosts hit Palace on a quick break, before the Palace stopper parried a Dan Gosling header.

With the match heading for a draw, Sakho's 87th-minute moment of madness cost Palace an away point.

Referee Mike Dean had warned both players seconds before a Cherries set-piece was taken but Sakho caught Lerma with his forearm and Dean pointed to the spot. Substitute Stanislas blasted into the middle of the net to give the hosts all three points.
