Selhurst Park, Monday 8.00pm
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has no new injury worries after a couple of his players recovered from knocks they picked up at Fulham on the opening day.
New signings Max Meyer, Jordan Ayew and Cheikhou Kouyate have continued to work on their fitness this week and are close to being match ready.
Liverpool centre half Dejan Lovren is out with a pelvic injury so Joe Gomez will continue to take his place alongside Virgil van Dijk. Defender Joel Matip is back after overcoming a pre-season muscle injury.
Roy Hodgson
"You look at the attacking threat [Liverpool] pose and on the training field you try to make certain the players know where that threat is coming from and what they might be able to do tactically and positionally to nullify it to some extent.
"You won't be able to nullify it completely because you're talking about players of the highest possible class. We know the way they play and where their strengths lie. We’re playing at home and we have threats of our own that can cause teams problems when we have the ball.
"It's no way going to be a case of us just accepting we cannot beat them, so therefore we will just defend against them. We've got the treat it the same way as the Fulham game. When we have the ball we'll try and use the gifts that we have in forward positions as we've got some players that teams will be concerned about."
Jurgen Klopp
"Crystal Palace are unbeaten. They have grown as a group and Roy has done a fantastic job there. I saw a lot of videos of Roy Hodgson – one of the inventors of 4-4-2 style. They're very well organised and that will be a tough challenge. So our start was good but that is already done.
"At the end of last season they were very consistent. Pre-season was good and now their first game was good. They played real football and I think 3 or 4 new players weren't in the squad or didn't start.
"Townsend is a fantastic football player and Schlupp in a slight different position. They have speed on the wings, their full backs are quick and they have experienced centre halves. Wilfried (Zaha) is doing it for Crystal Palace."
