Crystal Palace were defeated 3-2 by a stoppage-time winner at home to Manchester United.

The Eagles threw away a two-goal lead and allowed United to capitalise on their possession and secure victory with a dramatic late goal.

Andros Townsend had given them hope with an 11th-minute strike from Christian Benteke's pass just outside the area that took a deflection into the net.

And they doubled their lead three minutes into the second half after a quick free-kick from Jeffrey Schlupp to Patrick van Aanholt caught the United defence napping and the left back fired past David de Gea.

But United got back into the game on 55 minutes when a corner was eventually cleared to Antonio Valencia who dinked over the top and James Tomkins played Paul Pogba and Chris Smalling onside with the latter heading in.

The away side levelled in the 76th minute after Romelu Lukaku drove through a sea of Palace legs in the six-yard box to score.

Benteke cleared off the line as United piled on the pressure, before the Palace striker forced a world-class save from De Gea down the other end.

United then broke Palace's hearts with a long-range effort from Nemanja Matic in the 92nd minute to seal all three points and leave the hosts in the drop zone.
