Palace manager Roy Hodgson faces further injury woes after centre back Scott Dann and midfielder Jason Puncheon suffered serious-looking leg injuries against Manchester City at the weekend. Both players were stretchered off and are likely to be some time out of action.
With Mamadou Sakho already out, Martin Kelly is likely to deputise for Dann and Timothy Fosu-Mensah to keep his place at right back due to the injury of Joel Ward (calf). Striker Connor Wickham (knee) is stepping up his recovery.
Southampton right back Cedric (ankle) and striker Charlie Austin (hamstring) are still missing, but left-back Ryan Bertrand (hamstring) could make a return.
Roy Hodgson
"We're massively stretched. Not just at the moment: going forward. Sakho's likely to be out for a few weeks to come with a quite serious injury, Joel Ward is still recovering, and there's no sign of him recovering in the next few days, and then we've lost Scott Dann, we've lost Jason Puncheon.
"I'm afraid we've stretched our resources to the absolute limit. That's why it was very nice to see three players who've not had many chances, Jaido Riedewald, Tim Fosu-Mensah and Patrick van Aanholt come in and do as well as they did [against City].
"We will recover one or two players who were unable to play, before the Southampton game. Scott Dann's injury doesn't look good, that's for sure. It's a serious knee injury. How serious it'll turn out to be we'll have to wait and see."
"Of course it’s difficult to play three games in a few days. But you have to think that every other team is in the same situation, so if you’re feeling tired you must believe that so are the other team, so it’s a level playing field in that sense.
"The fact that we’re out of the relegation zone or the fact that we’re still in contention is an amazing achievement, but I think the run we’ve gone on, we’ve kind of given ourselves half a chance.
"Now we just have to capitalise on that and keep putting in the performances we have been and hopefully it’s enough come the end of the season.
"We can’t get carried away, we were given a handicap because of our start, yes all we’ve done now is kind of close the gap a little bit and given ourselves half a chance, we haven’t done nothing yet, we’re in the relegation battle as it is but hopefully the right performances will bring us the results we need and we can start climbing the table."
How will the Eagles fare at Southampton? Whatever the result, have some fun at the casino.
