Team news

Dick Advocaat will be without Sebastian Larsson, who starts a two-match suspension after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season against Newcastle, but Jack Rodwell (hamstring) could return.

Wes Brown (knee), Emanuele Giaccherini (ankle) and Ricky Alvarez (knee) all remain sidelined due to injury.

Crystal Palace midfielder Joe Ledley will be given every opportunity to prove his fitness for Saturday's match.

Mile Jedinak is likely to return after his four-match suspension if Ledley does not make it, but the Australia captain could be included anyway.

Strikers Marouane Chamakh and Fraizer Campbell (hamstring) and midfielder Jordon Mutch (thigh) remain out.

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

Talking about the appointment of Advocaat: "I think it was a great move for them to have someone of his experience at this time and he's proving that.

"It’s fair to say they’ve gone a little bit more direct, a little bit more positive.

"They have some good players and it’s always a difficult place to go.

"I don’t think we’re under any illusions. It’s a team coming off the back of a great victory (beating Newcastle 1-0) and they will be buoyed for our game."

Dick Advocaat

"He started in January, so he had the time to do so. Pardew is an excellent coach - I met him once in Spain when he was the manager of Charlton. He probably doesn't know, but I still remember that.

"They were there at the training centre in Marbella and we talked with each other. He's a nice man, I like him and then from that moment, I started following him.

"He did a great job, in my opinion, at Newcastle, and what he is doing now is unbelievable."
