Selhurst Park, Monday 8.00pm
On-loan Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo goes into the squad after recovering from a hamstring problem. However, fellow front men Marouane Chamakh and Fraizer Campbell are still missing with the same injury.
Jordon Mutch is still out with a thigh strain, while midfielder Mile Jedinak serves the fourth and final game of his ban.
Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has beaten off an Achilles injury and James Milner should be fit after a recent knee problem.
Roy Hodgson
"They will be looking to get a result at our ground. Of course they are in the title race it's been proven many, many times that the race is never over.
"Even when they won it first time around it went to the last seconds. That's the great thing about the Premier League; you can't take any victories for granted.
"Manchester City will not take a victory for granted at Selhurst Park for granted, for sure, nor will Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their game this weekend.
"They have fantastic players, and when you're talking about the level they play at, the difference sometimes between winning and losing is marginal and the margins haven't perhaps fallen their way as they did the year before.
"Don't mistake this is a team in decline, because I don't think it is. I think City are a team who will grow and continue do so because they have incredible finance.
"They have incredible quality in the squad, so this period is now a chase for them to try and chase Chelsea down."
Manuel Pellegrini
"We are not thinking about just one team. It is important to finish as high up the table as possible. If we can’t win the Premier League, then we must try to be second.
"We must play from now until the end of the season in the right way. A big team always has the mentality that it wants to win all its matches.
"From the beginning there have been six or seven teams playing for a Champions League place but we have been in the top four the whole time and I hope that will continue. We have eight finals to play between now and the end of the season, beginning with the game at Crystal Palace."
