Julian Speroni's parry led to Southampton scoring

Alan Pardew suffered his first away defeat as Crystal Palace manager with a 1-0 loss at Southampton.

Saido Mane grabbed an 83rd-minute winning goal as Pardew endured a miserable return to his former club.

The Senegalese midfielder lobbed Julian Speroni after the Eagles stopper spilled James Ward-Prowse's shot.

Palace were the more threatening with Wilfried Zaha hitting the post in the second half. Palace remain eight points above the relegation zone, while the Saints move up to fifth.

Not used: K Davis, Gardos, Alderweireld, S Davis.

Palace: Speroni, Kelly, Delaney, Dann, Ward, McArthur (Ameobi 83), Ledley, Zaha, Puncheon, Bolasie, Gayle.

Not used: Hennessey, Mariappa, Hangeland, Souare, Boateng, Gray.
