Selhurst Park, Tuesday 8.00pm
Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle is a doubt after limping off in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Swansea. Midfielder James McArthur put in an impressive display after replacing him but boss Neil Warnock might recall forward Fraizer Campbell. Defenders Damien Delaney (calf) and Adrian Mariappa (knee) are still out.
Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke is back after completing his suspension. Defender Ciaran Clark is expected to play despite suffering blurred vision in the match against Burnley at the weekend. Defenders Ron Vlaar, Philippe Senderos and Nathan Baker still missing.
Palace: Speroni, Hennessey, Kelly, Fryers, Dann, Ward, Hangeland, Jedinak, Bannan, Ledley, McArthur, Bolasie, Thomas, Puncheon, Gayle, Campbell, Johnson, Doyle, Chamakh, Zaha.
Villa: Guzan, Given, Hutton, Lowton, Okore, Clark, Herd, Cissokho, Westwood, Richardson, Sanchez, N'Zogbia, Cleverley, Grealish, Cole, Bacuna, Weimann, Agbonlahor, Robinson.
Roy Hodgson
"The demands on you in the Premier League - look at how Alan Pardew has dealt with things at Newcastle recently. You just have to get on with it. I am not too bothered about teams, you just have to look after yourselves really.
"I just think the Premier League is money motivated. If you don’t throw money at it, you stand still. Villa is a massive club. I covered a game last season there, and the tradition in the corridors, it’s massive club. Unless you get someone like Sheikh Mansour at Man City, it’s about please your fans in the best way you can.
"When you are at a club like Villa, you have to be shrewd. Players have to be value for money and clubs have to be run so they don’t get into too much debt."
“Once we got going against Swansea I thought we were good. We didn’t start well against Liverpool either, but it was a big confidence boost going to Swansea after winning that. We fought hard together as a unit and we hit them in the counter and we could have won.
“We knew they would press us and they have great attacking players. We did threaten out on the wings and on another day we could have come away with three points.
"It was fantastic to come away with one and we deserved something from it. We can’t get carried away at the moment, we’re still down the bottom and we need to pick up wins. We just need to keep going, similar to last year and manage to pull away. Hopefully we can kick on again and beat Villa on Tuesday.”
"We’ve just moved into December and so the fixtures are coming thick and fast. As a player you look for these games as they’re important because if you can get a few results you can quickly climb up the league. However we’ll take them one at a time and everyone will get their recovery hats to ensure they’re ready for tonight and then the next one."
Paul Lambert
"When Christian Benteke is on his game I think he’s one of the best in Europe, let alone Britain. I think if he’d have played against Burnley he’d have got on the scoresheet which would have made a difference for us.
"I’ve seen some brilliant strikers in my time and when he’s on his game that guy is right up there. It’s a massive boost for us having him back. He will certainly help.
"I think his performance against Spurs indicated that he was getting back. His match fitness is still going to be down because he hasn’t played for a number of months or so.
"But when he has played for us he has been fantastic for us so him coming back on Tuesday night will be a massive bonus. He’s a top player and if he keeps on progressing the way he’s going we’ll see where his career goes."
