Mile Jedinak rescued a point for Crystal Palace in a 1-1 draw at Swansea.

The Palace captain netted from the penalty spot to cancel out Swansea's opener for his fifth goal in his last eight matches.

Swansea dominated the early stages as Palace were totally overun and they were worthy of their 15th-minute goal after Wilfried Bony turned Brede Hangeland to fire into the corner.

Boss Neil Warnock had to shuffle his team after Dwight Gayle was forced off injured six minutes later with James McArthur replacing the striker and the Scot put in an impressive display.

And Palace were able to restore parity on 25 minutes after Jonjo Shelvey felled Marouane Chamakh in the box and Jedinak converted from the spot.

The goal reinvigorated the Eagles and Chamakh drew a good block out of keeper Lukasz Fabianski, while Yannick Bolasie's shot from range clipped the bar.

In the second half, Julian Speroni saved efforts from Shelvey and Gylfi Sigurddson with the latter also having shot whisk past the post as the Welsh club sought a winner.

The battling Eagles held their nerve to claim a hard-fought away point and move up to 13th in the table, though just two points off the drop.

Swansea: Fabianksi, Rangel, Bartley, Williams, Taylor, Shelvey, Ki, Routledge (Barrow 64), Sigurdsson, Montero, Bony 7 (Gomis 74).

Not used: Amat, Britton, Carroll, Tremmel, Richards.

Palace: Speroni, Ward, Dann, Hangeland, Kelly, Puncheon (Zaha 81), Jedinak, Ledley, Bolasie, Chamakh (Campbell 65), Gayle (McArthur 21).

Not used: Hennessey, Thomas, Fryers, Bannan.
