Neil Warnock lost his first game back as manager as Crystal Palace were defeated 2-0 at Hull City.

Warnock had overseen two draws and two wins since taking over from Tony Pulis for his second spell at the club.

But a below-par display from his team saw them return to London with no points despite just one loss in a previous 15 meetings against their opponents.

The Eagles were dealt a blow after 11 minutes when defender Scott Dann was carried off on a stretcher with suspected medial ligament damage after defending a Hull attack.

Martin Kelly moved across to centre half to allow sub Adrian Mariappa to slot in at right back. The only attempt on goal of note in the first half was from Hull's Abel Hernandez who shot just past the post.

And the Tigers took the lead on the hour mark after Andrew Robertson's inch-perfect cross from the left was headed in by Mohamed Diame.

Palace tested Hull keeper Steve Harper for the first time with a powerful strike from Yannick Bolasie that Harper managed to tip over.

With the Eagles pressing for an equaliser, it left space at the back for Hull to add another goal with a minute left. Joe Leldey lost the ball in the Hull half and Tom Huddleston's through-ball to Nikica Jelavic was slotted into the bottom corner.

Hull City: Harper, Chester, Davies, Dawson, Elmohamady (Bruce, 90), Livermore, Huddlestone, Diame, Robertson (Rosenior, 81), Jelavic, Hernandez (Ramierez, 75).

Not used: Jakupovic, Brady, Quinn, Ben Arfa

Palace: Speroni, Ward, Dann (Mariappa, 12), Delaney, Kelly, Jedinak, McArthur (Gayle, 70), Bolasie, Ledley, Puncheon, Campbell (Chamakh 63).

Not used: Hennessey, Guedioura, Zaha
