Crystal Palace rue miss chances as they lose 2-0 against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
Jason Puncheon missed a glorious chance to put the Eagles 1-0 up after eight minutes.
Mousa Dembele felled Marouane Chamakh in the box, and referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot. Puncheon stepped up and blazed the penalty kick over the bar.
Apart from one effort by Nabil Bentaleb, which hit the bar, Palace were all over Spurs in the first half, but couldn't put their chances away.
In the second half Tottenham took control, and were awarded their first goal when Kyle Naughton's long ball to Emmanuel Adebayor was flicked into the path of Christian Eriksen who finished with aplomb.
Substitute Jermain Defoe made it 2-0 on 72 minutes, lifting the ball over Julian Speroni when Aaron Lennon's ball into the box was not dealt with.
Mile Jedinak and Chamakh both had late headers, which were off target, and Palace ran out of time to get back into the match.
With results going against Palace, it means that they have returned to the bottom of the Premier League.
Palace: Speroni, Mariappa, Parr, Gabbidon, Delaney, Ward, Bolasie (Williams, 69), Puncheon (Guedioura, 82), Jedinak, Chamakh, Jerome (Gayle, 69)
Subs not used: O'Keefe, Bannan, Price, Moxey
