Tony Pulis claimed his first win as Crystal Palace manager after a 1-0 success at home to West Ham.
Marouane Chamakh's goal gave Palace just their third victory of the season which moves them off the foot of the table.
In a poor game between two struggling sides, West Ham had two half chances to go in front. First was an impressive free-kick move that saw Mark Noble chip the ball over the wall but Kevin Nolan scuffed his shot with the goal at his mercy.
Then Mo Diame headed Stewart Downing's cross over the bar from close range.
The Eagles took the lead three minutes before the break through Chamakh who netted his second Palace goal. Barry Bannan's corner was blocked by a Hammers defender but rebounded back to the Scot who whipped a cross into the box for Chamakh flick home.
Palace had chances to extend their advantage after the interval. Cameron Jerome and Chamakh combined to set up Jason Puncheon whose strike was deflected off James Collins and hit the post.
An unmarked Kagisho Dikgacoi headed over another fine Bannan cross from a few yards out.
Then Jerome was sent through on goal with only Jussi Jaaskelainen to beat but his weak shot was saved by the keeper.
Downing volleyed into the net for West Ham but it didn't count as James Tomkins fouled Chamakh in the build-up.
Palace sub Jimmy Kebe thought he scored but it was ruled out for offside. And in stoppage time, he got on the end of another through ball but scooped over the bar with Jaaskelainen stranded.
