Crystal Palace secured their first win back in the Premier League with a 3-1 success at home to Sunderland.

Palace started the game brightly and took a deserved lead in the ninth minute through Danny Gabbidon. Jose Campana's corner into the mix hit Sunderland's Ondrej Celustka and diverted off the Wales defender and into the back of the net.

The away side equalised in the 64th minute through half-time sub Steven Fletcher who headed Jack Colback's cross past Julian Speroni and into the bottom corner.

The goal was harsh on Palace but they re-gained the lead in the 79th minute with a penalty after John O'Shea lost control of the ball and tripped Jason Puncheon in the area.

The Black Cats skipper was sent off and Dwight Gayle coolly put away the kick for his maiden Eagles goal.

In stoppage time, sub Stuart O'Keefe curled a beauty into the top left corner from the edge of the box to seal all three points.

Palace: Speroni, Ward, Gabbidon, Delaney, Moxey, Dikgacoi, Jedinak, Campana (Williams 54), Puncheon, Gayle (Wilbraham 83), Chamakh (O'Keefe, 83).

Sunderland: Westwood, Celustka, Diakite, O'Shea, Colback, Johnson, Larsson, Vaughan, Giaccherini (Mavrias 61), Ji (Fletcher 46), Wickham.
