Crystal Palace's promotion chances were dealt a major setback after a 3-0 defeat at Ipswich.

The result means they slip to fifth in the table and are just three points above seventh-placed Bolton, managed by former boss Dougie Freedman.

The game was effectively all over by the break after they conceded three goals - two of which came in first half stoppage time.

Ipswich went ahead in the 37th minute after a howler from goalkeeper Julian Speroni. The Argentine failed to control a long ball on his chest outside his area and Frank Nouble took advantage to score into an empty net.

The Eagles then conceded two more goals in first half injury time. First Aaron Cresswell hit a brilliant left-footed shot from 30 yards into the top corner to make it 2-0.

Then seconds later another defensive mistake, this time from Peter Ramage, gave Nouble his second goal.

Palace have now not scored in their last five matches and are without a win in the last six outings.
