Selhurst Park, Tuesday 8.00pm
Manager Dougie Freedman will check on Darren Ambrose who missed Saturday's match at Hull due to illness. Winger Wilfried Zaha will serve the second game of a three-match ban.
Barnsley's 17-year-old midfielder Paul Digby and Michael Tonge could get recalls to the side as manager Keith Hill looks to get the Tykes out of relegation danger. He today signed Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper David Button on an emergency loan after David Preece's wrist injury.
Roy Hodgson
"I've always said that it would be a huge ask to come from fighting relegation for two years to then get into the play-offs. I just think it is too much to ask from the club and the team.
"I think you can see the progress we’ve made both on and off the field and that is the way I’d like it to go. If that means that we have to wait one or two years until it is the right time, then I can accept that.
"We are trying to grow a team here and that is going to take time but we believe we’re making big strides in matching these big teams like West Ham, Middlesbrough and Hull and anyone in the top six but to get in there right now might be too far."
"I think there is still a slight chance [of reaching the play-offs]. There is still a lot to play for and it’s going to be tough but we just have to go and do what we can do.
"I’m looking to get fully fit now and push on to the end of the season. I want to be in the team until the end of the season, that’s what I want to do."
Keith Hill
"The harsh realities of it is that we’re in a relegation fight. We need to collectively fight against that tide and change it.
"When you get knocked down it’s how you respond when you stand up again. We’re looking for people to fight and to show character. In these times of pressure we find out who are up to the challenges. When you’re winning everybody’s your friend, but in times of pressure you find out about the people you’re working for and with.
"You find whose working with you and whose working against you. It’s a real test. But this is a test I was prepared to take on. The players knew it was a test at the beginning of the season.
"I’ve got to be tough and I’ve got to be firm. I’ve got to try and make decisions which are going to get us the points we need to avoid us going into the last two or three games of the season in serious relegation trouble."
