Team news

Palace skipper Paddy McCarthy is banned for the derby after getting sent off in the midweek Carling Cup semi-final defeat at Cardiff. Former Brighton defender Paul McShane is ready to step in. On-loan defender Mustapha Dumbaya is available after being cup-tied against the Bluebirds. Dean Moxey returns to the squad after recovering from his knee injury.

Brighton striker Sam Vokes, who has signed on loan from Wolves for the rest of the season, could start for the Seagulls. Matt Sparrow (ankle) and Kazenga LuaLua (hamstring) are doubts.

Quotes

Paddy McCarthy

"I am gutted from a personal point of view not to be in the game. But if you were given the option to hand pick a fixture to follow up last week you would have picked the Brighton game. It will be a great atmosphere at Selhurst Park tomorrow night."

Paul McShane

"I'll be expecting criticism and I’ll be a bit disappointed if I don’t get it. It is water off a duck's back. You have to learn to deal with that when you’re a player and I had it at West Brom when I went back there with Sunderland.

"I’m just looking forward to the game and performing well for Crystal Palace. A goal would definitely be a bonus but all I’m hoping is that we get the win."

Gus Poyet

"Palace is bigger [than facing Newcastle], I’ve got no doubt, because they are the biggest rival. Newcastle are not, we don’t see them very often. If you play for Brighton there is only one big rival, Palace, so the rest doesn’t matter.”
