Selhurst Park, Tuesday 8.00pm
Eagles left-back Dean Moxey will be assessed after missing Saturday's win at Watford with the flu. Midfielder Owen Garvan looks to have fully recovered from his knee injury and may be added to the squad. Lee Hills (knee) is the only long-term injury.
Bristol City defender Ryan McGivern, who had a spell on loan with Palace at the start of the season, hopes to have shaken off a hamstring problem along with James Wilson (illness). Louis Carey (knee) plus Liam Fontaine and Jamie McAllister (both ankle) are still out.
Roy Hodgson
"Last year I felt we didn’t have the quality in the final third, now we’ve got people who can score goals. I don’t think we’ve got a strong 11 – I think we’ve got a strong squad.
"The game has changed – it’s not like the days when Nottingham Forest, could pick the same side every week – and you’ve got to change with it. Can I pick the same side on Tuesday? I’m telling you I won’t."
Steve Wigley
"There is nothing to be happy about when you are in the position we are in. But if we feel sorry for ourselves, we will stay there.
"If we maintain the same level of commitment and the same positive attitude, with the players we have got, this club will definitely get out of trouble. But it is going to be hard work.
"There are takers and waiters in life and we have to make sure we take the opportunities that present themselves.
"We have to continue to work hard, give everything we have got and not lose hope. It is up to those who have the shirts to stay in the team and those who do not to get themselves into the team.
"We were in an identical position this time last year with six points from 11 games and we dug ourselves out thanks to a brilliant October and November.
"All it takes is a couple of wins and we could be out of the bottom three and on our way.
"I was hoping it would come on Saturday, but now it will have to be at Crystal Palace on Tuesday. When you are not winning, you need the next game. When you are not scoring, you need the next game. The next game is everything.
"When you are in the position we are in, it is vital you score the first goal and get your noses in front. If you fall behind when you are bottom of the league, of course there is going to be doubt. Chasing games is difficult at this level and we have to make sure we are the ones in front and dominating. We know we have proven goal-scorers in the team and it is only a matter of time before they find the back of the net."
