Crystal Palace continued their bad run of form, losing 3-0 to Scunthorpe.

Kieran Djilali had Palace's first chance as early as the second minute of the game, when he drilled a shot wide from 12 yards out.

Scunthorpe also looked dangerous in attack - Claude Davis did well to block an effort from Michael Collins, and Julian Speroni was equal to an effort from the midfielder too.

Speroni was also on hand to stop an effort from Chris Dagnall in the 31st minute.

Paddy McCarthy, who has been suffering from a stomach bug, was forced off a minute later, and Alex Marrow was moved into a centre back pairing with Davis.

The change seemed to unsettle Palace and they found themselves two-nil down before half time.

Jonathan Forte scored twice - the first from a left wing cross by Cliff Byrne and the second with a volley from 18 yards.

In the second half Jonathan Obika, who came on for McCarthy came close with a 12 yard volley.

Forte almost claimed his hat-trick goal moments later with a fine shot that drew an equally impressive save from Speroni.

Shortly before the hour mark, Palace went close again when Cadogan's cross was headed over the crossbar by Obika.

Sam Togwell curled a delightful effort just wide but in the 71st minute Scunthorpe claimed their third goal.

Nathaniel Clyne was adjudged to have fouled Forte in the box and O'Connor stepped up to fire a right-footed shot into the top left-hand corner.

Palace failed to recover and the game ended 3-0 to home side.
