Crystal Palace's five match unbeaten run came to an end when they lost 2-0 to Leicester City at the Walkers Stadium.

Eagles manager Neil Warnock opted to bring back Nick Carle to the starting line-up and there was also a starting place for the on-loan Freddie Sears.

It was very much a game of two halves for Palace as they enjoyed the majority of the possession and chances in the first half with Sears, and N'Diaye going close.

In the second half however, they let Leicester take control and the home side came close to scoring through Paul Gallagher and Richie Wellens.

On 59 minutes the match changed for the worst for Palace when Carle bought down Gallagher in the box. Matty Fryatt took the resulting spot kick, which was initially saved by Julian Speroni but the Argentinian couldn't save the rebound by Gallagher and Leicester were 1-0 up.

Palace tried in vain to equalise, with Alan Lee and Danny Butterfield both having chances.

However it was Gallagher again who put the result beyond Palace on 81 minutes when he pounced on a slip by Butterfield 30 yards out and dipped a fine shot over Speroni to make it 2-0 to the Foxes.

The Eagles almost gave away a third goal right near the end of the match, when DJ Campbell found himself through on goal but was denied by a sprawling Speroni.

Leicester: Weale, Neilson, Brown, Hobbs, McGivern, Oakley, King, Wellens, Dyer (Gallagher 46), Howard (Waghorn 64), Fryatt (Campbell 78).

Not Used: Logan, Morrison, N'Guessan, Kermorgant.

Palace: Speroni, McCarthy, Hill, Fonte, N'Diaye (Davis, 79), Derry, Danns, Sears, Carle (John, 71), Lee (Ambrose, 71), Butterfield

Subs: Flahavan, Scannell, Clyne. Ertl
