City Ground, Saturday 3.00pm
Neil Danns came through a midweek reserve game without any adverse reaction to his groin injury that has kept him out sice March.
Boss Neil Warnock won't rush him back to action but he could be named on the bench for the City Ground encounter.
Craig Beattie will keep his place in attack after scoring against Charlton on Tuesday due to the injuries of Alan Lee, James Scowcroft (both hamstring) and Calvin Andrew (knee).
Clint Hill has a groin problem and will play through the pain barrier.
Nottingham Forest striker Robert Earnshaw will face a late fitness test after missing the last two matche with a hamstring injury.
"I think Robert has a 50-50 chance of playing at the moment," said boss Colin Calderwood.
"We've got to be 100 per cent sure that we're not going to really damage him and have him unavailable for six to eight weeks if he were to rip that hamstring."
Defender Wes Morgan is back after a one-match ban and on-loan Brighton defender Joel Lynch may start.
Lewis McGugan (thigh), Paul Anderson (thigh) and Joe Garner (knee) are all sidelined.
Roy Hodgson
"We have played well away at home but we have never created chances like we did at Ipswich. It was football and creating good chances against a good team so it has been a great week. And now we haven't got to let it end there.
"We have got to go Forest, who are down there but, having watched them against Wednesday, they were very unlucky with a fluke goal that cost them the game - a richochet. And they had three or four chances with Nathan Tyson playing well, Earnshaw probably back and Andy Cole.
They have some good players up there so I am looking for another good performance for us and to come away with some sort of result. Yes we will look for a win but with two weeks rest it will just be good to be ticking on now."
Colin Calderwood
"Frustration is growing, especially with the manner of the goals we have conceded in the last two games. At the moment we are finding it hard to get a victory, but we can't afford to feel sorry for ourselves."

None.
The Welsh international is reborn at Forest after a nightmare spell with Derby County. He's got off to a flyer and the Palace defence will have to be on their guard.
