Selhurst Park, Tuesday 8.00pm
The summer saw a number of changes for both Palace and Charlton, with a couple of defenders switching teams.
Paddy McCarthy made his switch to SE25 whilst Mark Hudson was attracted by the bright lights and trapeze acts of SE7.
Charlton are also struggling for goals having sold Chris Iwelumo and Marcus bent, Todorov being injured and McLeod just not living up to expectations.
Andy Gray is already continuing from last season and scoring goals, but he seems to be the only player capable at the moment, although that could soon change with Zheng Zhi returning to fitness.
The Eagles are still wthout strikers Alan Lee and James Scowcroft (both hamstring) plus Calvin Andrew (knee). Neil Danns is sidelined with his groin injury.
Charlton's Zheng Zhi is hopeful of a return after recovering from foot trouble. Jonathan Fortune, Izale McLeod, Therry Racon and Harry Arter are all on the Valley treatment table.
Roy Hodgson
"I think Mark could have told us earlier,"
"That was a disappointment for me since he was my captain. A captain and his manager should be close-knit. I was disappointed in Mark but life moves on.
"I think he owed it to me, having made him captain, that he should have confided in me that he would be definitely going. Instead I got a phone call from Alan Pardew telling me he was definitely leaving.
"You can’t blame Mark. His contract was up and they offered him major money. They doubled or even trebled it.
"He has got to look after his family. That’s how life is but I think it could have been handled differently."
"You don’t need any motivation against Charlton. It’s a cracking match. It’s my first one at home. You go to the Valley and it’s difficult and I expect we’ll make it difficult for them here. That’s how rivalries are.
"Charlton will expect to come and take maximum points because of our position and quite rightly so."
Alan Pardew
There is a lot to think about in terms of a team which, in my opinion, should have won," Pardew revealed. "We should have beaten them and we haven't, so I will have to have a close look at it.
"Every game is important but nothing more so than Crystal Palace for Charlton fans, so it is important we get something out of that game.
"It will be a big game for Neil Warnock and a big game for me, but for us now we need to get ourselves back on track and we will be doubly determined to get something there."

Mark Hudson
A striker scoring goals is always going to be a threat - especially with the way our defence has looked at times.
However, in general, Charlton have been struggling for goals. With Zhi and Ambrose out injured and a number of other strikers not performing, the goalscoring burdan has been on Gray.
