Palace v Plymouth Argyle

Selhurst Park, Saturday 3.00pm

Jobi McAnuff

Jobi McAnuff

Story so far

Plymouth are currently sitting one point outside the play-off spots in 7th. They're also three points above us but have a superior goal difference.

Last season, under Tony Pulis, The Pilgrims finished in a safe, mid-table spot of 14th - their best ever finish. Can they push themselves further up the table under Ian Holloway?

Team news

Wingman Jobi McAnuff is set to return to the team after undergoing a hernia operation in Germany.

Danny Butterfield could make a bench appearance after coming through 45 minutes for the reserves without any reaction to his toe injury.

Jamie Scowcroft (hamstring) should be back in the side after missing last week's draw with Leicester. Veteran midfielder Michael Hughes (knee) misses out.

Plymouth forward Barry Hayles is banned due to picking up five yellow cards. Nick Chadwick should replace the former Millwall man.

Quotes

Taylor on Plymouth: "It doesn't surprise me that Plymouth are doing well this season. They will be a very difficult opponent on Saturday. Ian Holloway has gone in there and got the best out of his players.

"It will be a very hard game for us, but that's the way we look at all matches. If we can improve on Saturday's performance at Leicester we can hopefully get a win and increase confidence, then we can kick on from there."

One to watch

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake

Plymouth Argyle's top scorer

Barry Hayles - 5 goals

Plymouth Argyle's bad boy

Barry Hayles - 5 0

Blake was Holloway's first signing since he took over the managerial reigns at Home Park.

Blake started his career in the Manchester United academy where he was prolific at youth and reserve level.

He has the pace and eye for goal to worry our defence. Well, most teams have the pace to worry our defence.

Ref watch

M P Russell

Mick Russell will be parading around Selhurst in black this Saturday to take control of his third Championship game this season.

After only breaking into the football league in the 04/05 season, Russell rarely gets to have the privilege of blowing up in the Championship.

We've only had him once and that was the 2-2 against Crewe last season where he didn't wave any sort of card about.

Let's hope his temperment is not as short as his brother's, Jack - and we'll have a free flowing game complete with goals and a win. We can hope.
