Before I get started on this week's One To Watch, I'd just like us all to take a moment and give our thoughts to those that are less fortunate than us. Saturday is going to a sad day for those at Portman Road - Jon Macken could be starting his first game for Ipswich Town.

A week ago today [Thursday] the transfer window was temporary closed. Players' movement between clubs has been limited to that of 'emergency' loans, where the word emergency is pretty loose [just like the women from New Addington].

With the departure of AJ early in the transfer window, we didn't have to pray that we wouldn't lose any of our better players. There was, however, a collective murmuring that Jon Macken needed to get out of the club and that we needed to bring a capable striker in. Our prayers had been answered at about 23:55 last Thursday evening - we'd finally lost Macken, recruited Stuart Green and signed Aki Riihilahti's mate, Shefki Kuqi.

Stuart Green is pretty unknown to the majority of us. He began his career in Newcastle, joined Hull, had a few arguments with Peter Taylor, joined Carlise, started going out with Miss Taylor and rejoined Hull. After finishing the last campaign reasonably strongly, Taylor brought in Green to bolster the right hand side of our midfield and for £75k, you can't really go wrong.

So we've got another Frantic Finn on our hands, albeit our new one is an all singing, all dancing belly flopping Finn. He has a half decent scoring record at this level and a pretty decent one at Premiership level as well. He's a physical player with a good touch and an eye for goal.

Anyway, enough of our good fortune - we're off to Kenilworth Road. It's been 12 years since we've picked up a win there and we've only ever won there four times since the beginning of time. Not a great record. However, so long as we don’t put in the same sort of abject performance as last season then it can’t really be too bad. We’re entering Reborn country, and by that I don’t mean countless Muslims and….oh, wait.

The Hatters have lost two of their most influential players over the summer – Kevin ‘Injury Prone’ Nicholls and Steve Howard. Sam Parkin has made the move from Ipswich to free up quite a bit of space for Jon Macken. Parkin has scored 179 league goals in 181 league starts – not a bad record for the former Chelsea man. The Roehampton born front-man should be able to score the goals to keep Luton a mid-table Championship side.

I’m off to hunt down a decent curry house for Saturday. Oh, just so you’re all aware – Saturday is the match before my birthday so you’re more than welcome to buy me a few 21st Birthday drinkies. I’d rather take the 3 points though.
