Birmingham City v Palace

St Andrews, Saturday 12.45pm

Andy Johnson

Andy Johnson

Team news

Johnson has a shin injury and is described by Dowie as 'touch and go'. Fitz Hall (knee) and Michael Hughes (hamstring) should be fit to play after being rested in the midweek Carling Cup win over Charlton.

Brum will be without former Palace players Mikael Forssell and Clinton Morrison in attack. Another former Eagle Julian Gray will play - but at left-back.

David Dunn and Robbie Savage were rested in Birmingham's cup defeat to Fulham but should regain their places in the starting line-up. Muzzy Izzet is back from injury and is likely to get a place on the bench.

One to watch

Julian Gray

Birmingham City's top scorer

Emile Heskey, Dwight Yorke - 2 goals

Birmingham City's bad boy

Robbie Savage - 5 0

Palace old boys

Matthew Upson, Nico Vaesen, Clinton Morrison, Julian Gray, Mikael Forssell

Ex Palace left wing maestro, Julian Gray who played such a vital part in our amazing promotion campaign last season left for Birmingham in the summer and immediately merited a first team place.

Being fast, witty, quick footed and having a bad attitude, Gray will definately be a handful.

He will line up immediately against his close friend Wayne Routledge and the two will clash more than once. This could be a great battle.

We need to watch out for the Robbie Savage/Michael Hughes situation flaring up again, because it will, and as Savage has the joint most yellow cards in the premiership alongside Tottenham's Jamie Redknapp, he will need to be watched for his constant fouling, diving and general annoyance.

Emile Heskey is starting to find some form, and some goals, as is former Man Utd striker Dwight Yorke. They will provide the goals for this fiery clash.

Let the fireworks commence...
