Team news

Having beaten Grimsby 2-0 on Saturday Trevor Francis will be boosted by the return of several players. Danny Granville who missed out on Saturday’s win over the mariners through suspension could return to the starting line up. Fellow defender Tony Popovic has shaken off a groin injury and could also feature however if he is not 100% fit it is likely that Kit Symons will keep his place in the centre of defence.

Dougie Freedman will miss the rest of 2002 due to a hernia operation and so Dele Adebola and Andy Johnson will once again lead the Palace attack with youngster Gareth Williams likely to take up a place on the subs bench.

Promoted from division two last season, Reading have adapted to life in division one very well and are riding high just one point away from the play off zone.

Having missed out on the Royals’ last game through suspension, Palace old boy Ricky Newman is likely to be back in the starting line up alongside another ex Eagle midfielder John Salako.
