Walsall v Palace

Bescot Stadium, Tuesday 7.45pm

Walsall

Walsall

Team news

Having beaten Brighton FIVE – nil on Saturday, Trevor Francis is likely to name the same starting XI for the clash at the Bescot.

This will mean that hat-trick hero Andy Johnson will once again partner Dougie Freedman up front. Wayne Routledge should have recovered from his sprained ankle in time to start on the right wing with Julian Gray playing on the opposite flank.

Alex Kolinko will make his second start in goal following his groin injury. This will allow loan keeper Nic Michopoulos to return to Burnley.

Walsall currently lie in 18th position with 16 points, just three places below Palace.

Manager Colin Lee will be glad to be once again able to rely on New Zealand defender Danny Hay following his return from a stomach injury. Another player in contention for a starting place is attacker David Zdrilic although he is likely to take his place on the bench for the third game in a row.

The former Watford and Wolves centre back is a relatively new recruit to the Bescot Stadium but has been one of the most consistent and influential performers for the Saddles this season. A solid defender, he can be dangerous at set pieces and will be looking to score his first Walsall goal against the Palace. Johnson will have to recreate his form against Brighton to get the better of this centre back.
