Sat Jul 21 2001 - Friendly
Palace made it four wins in a row in their pre-season campaign, after beating Torquay United 4-0, in the friendly at Plainmoor.
Aki Riihilahti opened the scoring for Crystal Palace after a cross from Dougie Freedman, who did well to carry on his run down the wing despite being fouled. Shortly after, Freedman was unlucky to see his shot hit the woodwork.
Fifteen minutes into the game, the home side had a goal disallowed after striker Tony Bedaeu was adjudged to have fouled Alex Kolinko.
Morrison then went on to miss an easy chance six yards out and Jovan Kirovski skied over a 25-yard free kick as Palace dominated the proceedings.
But the visitors' lead was doubled on the stroke of half-time when Morrison's turn and shot went in the corner of the goal after a Riihilahti cross.
Morrison and Freedman had chances to extend the lead as Carlisle provided problems for the Torquay defence down the right hand side. A Simon Rodger half-volley screamer made it 3-0, after a cross from Morrison on the right and Morrison made it four, after being put through by Kirovski with a one-on-one with the keeper.
Kirovski and substitute Julian Gray hitting the bar, had chances to add to the lead and Torquay were denied a consolation at he end, when Kolinko saved a one-on-one.
But the game ended with a convincing 4-0 victory and the Eagles now play Exeter on Tuesday night.
