Thu Jul 19 2001 - Friendly
Palace won their first friendly on home soil, beating Tiverton Town by two goals to one.
Andrew Frampton tested the Tiverton keeper with an early shot in the first minute. A quarter of an hour into the game, the home side had a couple of chances, but Matt Gregg saved the first and a Tiverton player dragged the other shot wide.
Palace chances of their own, but Tommy Black, Julian Gray failed to convert their chances.
The Eagles took the lead through trialist Jovan Kirovski on 28 minutes. The US striker headed home in the corner of the net from a Simon Rodger corner.
Ten minutes after the break, Tiverton levelled the score through NanceKivell, who rounded Gregg in the Palace goal.
Midway through the second half, Black had a shot blocked after good work from Gray down the left and shortly after Gray had a shot of his own blocked. Down the other end, Gregg was called into action making a save.
Second half substitute Dougie Freedman, Gray and Steve Evans had attempts on goal, while Tiverton had a chance of their own just wide. But with the game heading for a draw, Kirovski scored the winner in injury time, set up by Freedman with a fine backheel pass.
