We’ve have arranged for Paddy McCarthy to join us. He will share his invaluable insights on the academy and first team progress as well as answering your questions in a Q&A session. We’re pleased to confirm that we’ll also be joined by Matt Woosnam, the specialist Palace journalist from The Athletic, to give us his thoughts on this season and the future as well being available for a second Q&A session. Palace have kindly donated an academy tour to raffle on the night for donations and we will be raising money for Palace for Life. Please help us to support this fabulous cause. We don’t have a card machine but you’ll be able to buy tickets or donate with cash or via your PayPal account. The winner will be drawn on the night. If you would like to join our committee, we’ll be giving details of what this entails and how to apply on the night. The meeting will be on Weds 8th May in Speroni’s at CPFC. To book your place simply email us at info@cpisa.co.uk. and we’ll send you a reference number to bring along on the night. This is an all seat event, however, seating is unreserved so will be on a ‘first come first served’ basis. The bar will be open and tea and coffee and light refreshments will also be available. We look forward to seeing you. Crystal Palace Independent Supporters Association

Particularly interesting reference the clampdown on people selling season / matchday tickets to others outside of official channels & the club cancelling the season tickets of those found to be responsible - I did notice a reference to a number of final warnings for this practice so it would appear that at least some people have been given a chance to redeem themselves, as it were.

Maybe some missed this as I think it was posted early in the morning - (or late at night) or maybe there just isnt the interest in it that I thought there would be -

I wouldn't say that 'some people have been given a chance to redeem themselves' they are just lucky that the club decided not to cancel their season tickets and issue warnings instead. The concern for the club, other than away fans in home areas, was the possibility of protesters or terrorists gaining entry. Ticket Touting in general is being dealt with by the club- the club had investigated following work by CPISA identifying websites selling tickets for Palace matches at inflated prices. One website showed match tickets up for sale in the the Liverpool away end prior to tickets being put on sale to Palace supporters. The club believed this was Palace supporters anticipating obtaining tickets for the match and placing them for sale in advance? The club stopped tickets at the Newcastle match, also identified some Fulham away tickets up for sale. As the tickets sold out at a high points level the club deduced the seller would have to be a season ticket holder. The club will continue to investigate ticket touting and anyone found to have bought tickets for the Manchester United or Aston Villa matches from unacceptable sources would have their tickets cancelled without a refund.

Interesting read this. In the Glaziers Lounge we typically have people turning up late near us. Always different individuals and not always clear as to whom they are. One theory touted was that it could be friends/family of the players. We had some Serbians turn up once absolutely slaughtered, claiming to know Luka. They were quite nice and reasonably behaved actually as I had braced for worse. I've definitely had a few Chelsea fans near me, I gave them a bit of a hard time that day as they didn't even try to remotely hide their very stereotypical demeanours, and I strongly suspect individuals supporting other teams. Could well be friends/family, could be people acquiring tickets through different means and not entirely convincing in any attempt to hide their support for the opposition. Accents often give it away too

After the announcement of our new shirt sponsor Net88 and the level of disquiet from fans, CPISA wrote to the club to raise concerns and have had a response. Edited by Pierre (21 Jun 2024 9.04am)

Edited by Pierre (21 Jun 2024 9.04am) That is indeed a disappointing response from the Chief Commercial Officer. I think the pertinent questions ( which I am sure you have considered for your next meeting with the club ), is why are Palace even talking to these people ? As a long established Premier League club is that the best we can expect in terms of sponsorship ? I look forward to hearing the outcome...best wishes...

Well done for raising the issue Pierre, but the 'official' response is just a lot of drivel. Clearly the club were influenced by a financial offering with little thought given to how the client's operation might impact on the status of our family minded club. To say they will consider carefully future arrangements is, to me, an admission they got it wrong. Not good enough, but I do think the message has hit home anyway.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
