Quick, sign him up.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

What might have been if Hodgson had not been so prejudiced against young strikers. We are lucky Edouard was injured giving JPM the opportunity to shine and Ollie to hone his skills.

How Norway have not qualified for the Euros with the best strikers in England and Spain I don’t know. Watch out for the World Cup qualifiers.

Well Dougie sure knows his stuff when spotting potential . Our problem with Sorloth was that we wanted/needed an instant return which was always going to be a long shot

And we still need a striker

Sorloth reminds me a lot of JPM. There were some signs that he might be decent, but Roy never played either of them, except for 5 minutes here or there.

It's hard to tell unless the striker gets a long run of starts with decent service, and I feel like Sorloth and JPM never really got that until JPM recently.

When he played for us I remember so many on here saying how useless he was. I didn't. His problem as a CP striker was the same as all our strikers in that era (who were all called 'useless'): he never got fed chances and lost confidence bit by bit after every match. People on here have said the same about Mateta and Eduaord. These are all good strikers who just need to be assisted. Now people on here are saying "OH gee! isn't it great to see Mateta's change of form!" Mateta's change of form is because of Glasner and a team assisting him. Unlike Roy, Glasner demands that they create chances and don't park the bus for 90 minutes in search of a pathetic, uninspiring, point.

Very true and had Roy remained in position,we may well have been waking up this morning finding ourselves back in the Championship, rather than 10th in the Premier League!!
Unbelievable transformation.

The problem is up until recently Palace was a place where Forwards/Strikers go to die.

Exactly. Solrloth is now 28 and has taken a long time to perform at the highest level. Good luck to him but how long were we supposed to wait?

I remember feeling the same, he didnt feel awful, but came in at a point where the team was performing pretty badly. Always hard to judge a striker in those conditions.

Sorloth played 533 minutes for us in the PL, so it was really a case of him being judged on cameos, which never gives a clear picture. JP was even looking a vastly improved player under Roy this season when he finally got his chance, so it's not all down to OG. Personally, I think someone worked with him in training on his holdup play which has been infinitely better this season. Previously the ball would just bounce off him, whereas now players really struggle to get the ball off him. I agree though that any striker is going to look better if they actually get given chances, which under Roy were in far lower supply.
