That’s the short sighted attitude that those wearing MAGA caps all take.

The damage isn’t though just collateral if in time it threatens you too. If by putting yourself first you so damage others that their damage makes your own situation worse then it’s unwise to do so.

When countries possess the capacity to destroy the world if provoked it isn’t just unwise. Creating instability becomes a huge gamble. Much better surely to try to ensure stability and manage change through mutual respect and cooperation.

I don’t trust Trump an inch. I don’t think he is very bright, contrary to his own opinion.

So we shouldn’t vote for what we think is best for us and ours then? Is that what you are advocating ? I thought that’s what elections were for. So you can hold your head up and say you did what you thought was correct. Honest wissie is that your idea!

So what is best for you and yours? Short term satisfaction or long term security?

I have never believed that voting was only about yourself and those directly dependant on you but that collectively we need to consider what is best for the country and the wider world because in fact all our futures depend on that.

I would never vote for anyone who offered me a tax cut just to encourage me to vote for them. I regard bribery as a crime and if anything it turns me away, not towards.

So I do what I believe is correct. Which is to ignore any personal implications and concentrate on the collective.

So IE the hmg are going to heavily tax your rentals and put you well out of pocket to give it to the unemployed or the feckless workshy baby machines so they can keep knocking out sprogs which you will be taxed even more for. They will be in a better position clearly! Glad you think you would vote for that! Now give me the small print line .

I don't see anyone adopting such a silly policy as it would drive people out of the market and create many more problems than it solves. I would, of course, react too.

Nevertheless, my basic approach still applies. I try to look at what's best for us as a whole, and not what's best for me in the short term because ultimately that's going to be in my best interests too. You might not have noticed it but I have at times argued in these threads that my taxation ought to increase, alongside others in my position.

Judging by most of your posts, what you think is best for us all is quite the opposite. As for you thinking that you should be taxed more, why don't you give the extra amount that you think should be taxed from you and give it to a charity - I'm sure they would spend it better than any government would.

What my charitable gifts are will not be discussed here. They are a private matter.

What people think is best for them is very often based on selfish desires and not clear-headed objectivity.

No surprise you get the TDS response that you are are wrong and can't see the big picture.

Thing about the TDS response is that your opinions are worthless cos he is always right and anyone who disagrees is flawed.

That is what you get when you try engaging and expocting a rational discussion.

Wait until November and what you say is a silly policy may happen under labour.
I wouldn’t worry though as everyone voting labour did it for you !

He didnt ask what you gave. He said why don’t you with all your extra cash.
Even so you may not give anything and that’s your choice. Don’t make it every one else’s job to give though.

It won’t.

They won’t make the housing crisis worse than it already is.

We will see increased taxes aimed at people like me but not done in a way that diminishes the rental sector.

I regarded the suggestion as impertinent. My views on taxation and my own finances are separate matters, the latter being personal and private. What others do is for them.
