Tommy Black is hoping to impress boss Trevor Francis enough to get a regular place in the Palace starting lineup next season.
Black has had limited first team action this season - prefered as a substitute in Francis' squad.
However, he has shown a marked improvement in his play over the past few games.
Black said: "I know that I have got time to prove myself and hopefully that can happen here.
"I know this summer will be important. I need to show in pre-season games and training what I'm capable of.
"If you start the season in the team it usually bodes well for that season."
