Crystal Palace legend Dave Swindlehurst has been named new reserve boss, after the departure of Mark Bowen to Birmingham.

Swindlehurst, who has been a regular co-commentator on Palace Radio, took over for the reserves' home game against Gillingham.

Dave scored 81 goals in eight seasons with the club. He had been working at the club's Academy and was recommended for the job by Steve Kember.

He said: "I've always had aspirations to move up the ladder and I was grateful for Steve's recommendation.

"I've been working in the Palace Academy and I know the club well so hopefully I can do a good job."
