Team news

Eagles manager Sam Allardyce will rest a number of players for the trip to Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup after a hectic Christmas schedule of fixtures.

Julian Speroni will start in goal for his 389th Palace game and will overtake John Jackson and break the record for most appearances as an Eagles goalkeeper.

Allardyce is boosted by the return of on-loan Chelsea striker Loic Remy who has recovered from a thigh injury and is set to make his Palace debut.

Jason Puncheon and Wayne Hennessey have knocks and won't travel with the squad, while Wilfried Zaha and Bakary Sako are on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations. Christian Benteke (shoulder), Pape Souare (leg), Steve Mandanda (knee) and Connor Wickham (knee) are all out.

Bolton's on-loan striker Sammy Ameobi has been recalled by parent club Newcastle. Trotters defenders Lawrie Wilson (rib) and Lewis Buxton (back) face late fitness tests.

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"They are riding high, Bolton, at the top of League One after a few poor years. I think they will play their best game of the season tomorrow. If we don't earn the right to play, they could upset us. I have sent out the warning signs.

"For me, it's very sad to see what's happened [to Bolton] but I will enjoy going back to that fantastic stadium. Obviously I want to beat them, I want to disappoint them.

"It [the FA Cup] is not the priority for us. Our priority — and this is not me, this is the club and the chairman saying our priority and why I have been brought here — is to stay in the Premier League.

"So with injuries, players going to the Africa Cup of Nations and fatigue, there will be a lot of changes. We will make wholesale changes. The good thing is players who have not played that much will get an opportunity."

Phil Parkinson

"We've worked hard to get to round three and now we want to make sure we give a good account of ourselves. It's a big occasion and we're really looking forward to it. It's a good opportunity for us to test ourselves against Premier League opposition."
