Britannia Stadium, Saturday 3.00pm
Midfielder Jason Puncheon had to hobble off with a dead leg last time out against QPR and is a major doubt, along with Wilfried Zaha who picked up an injury in the same game.
Striker Marouane Chamakh is still sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained in the FA Cup defeat against Liverpool last month.
Captain Mile Jedinak sits out the third game of his four-match ban after his clash with West Ham striker Diafra Sakho. Midfielder Jordon Mutch (thigh) hopes to make the squad.
Stoke City's Jon Walters, Philipp Wollscheid, Peter Odemwingie, Bojan and Marc Muniesa are all missing. Left-back Erik Pieters and former Eagle Victor Moses face late fitness tests.
Roy Hodgson
"It's very difficult to get a result at the Britannia but we're just concentrating on the next game and getting a result.
"We're playing well and we'll be a test for Stoke. We're only in our second year in the Premier League, we're different to Stoke in a lot of ways.
"First year you can get by, second year becomes a bit more difficult. We were in terrible trouble but we got ourselves out of it.
"We have got a long, long way to go before we get anywhere near Stoke. We have certainly made some good inroads, we have confidence and you have to live in the here and now in the Premier League.
"Looking up is the only way to look. Sometimes when you've lost, you look down. We won against QPR, we look up and we go to the next game.
"All teams come through different phases of form, and we're in a good phase. We want to try and keep that."
"I think we have to look up, there's no point looking down. We still have some good games to come up and hopefully a couple more wins at home. Home form is the main thing. It will be a tough task to beat 45 points but I think we can do it.
"We have the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea to come but you have got to relish those games, especially if we're safe (by a certain point), so we're going to try and enjoy those games."
Peter Crouch
"We weren't at our best, to say the least, against West Brom and we want to make up for that against Crystal Palace.
"I also think it's important to get a positive result before the international break because if we don't then we are thinking about it for a couple of weeks.
"If we get the three points then the club will feel like a brighter place going into the break. From my experience, it's always difficult coming up against Palace because they make life very difficult for you.
"Since Alan [Pardew] has gone in there, they have picked up a fantastic run of form and he has really regalvanised them. Make no bones about it, it will be a tough test and a hard fought game where possibly one goal could decide it."
