Substitute Powell headed home a Shaun Derry corner to make it 4-4 on aggregate at Sunderland in the 2004 play-off semi-final to force extra-time.

No goals were scored in the added period and the Eagles won the penalty shoot-out to book their place in the Wembley final. They eventually disposed of West Ham to reach the Premier League.
