Crystal Palace defenders Paddy McCarthy and Peter Ramage have made loan moves away.
The duo were told by manager Neil Warnock they were not part of his short-term first-team plans and told to get match practice.
McCarthy, 31, moves to League One Sheffield United on an initial one-month loan, having recently signed an extension to his contract.
Blades boss Clough said: "Paddy is a good, solid defender, an experienced centre half and we are delighted to get him, thanks to the assistance of Neil Warnock."
Ramage, 30, joins Barnsley in the same division for three months after turning out for the Tykes 25 times last season.
He said: "I'm looking forward to getting going again and playing. If I was to drop to League One, then Barnsley were the only team I was going to sign for. To be back in the north feels good and it does feel good to be back at Oakwell."
