Ramage lent to Barnsley

September 2 2013

Crystal Palace defender Peter Ramage has moved to Barnsley on a season's loan.

Ramage has dropped down the pecking order after Adrian Mariappa's arrival from Reading on transfer deadline day.

The 29-year-old centre half has only featured once this season in the Capital One Cup defeat at Bristol City where he captained the side.

He only signed a new two-year contract in May and the move to the Tykes will enable him to play regular football.

Ramage has made 66 appearances and scored four goals for the Eagles since joining from QPR.

Speaking after skippering Palace last week, the Geordie said: "I've never captained a side before so when the gaffer told me before the game it was a really big honour.

"It's something that nobody can take away from me and I'm proud to have led the team. We were disappointed with the result and the goals we conceded but that's just me with my defender's head on."

Keep up to date with Palace's 2013/14 transfers.
