George Burley was full of praise for striker Pablo Counago after his goal gave Crystal Palace victory over Doncaster Rovers at the weekend.
The Spaniard's strike was his second of the season and Burley is hoping that the goal will spur him on to greater things.
"Pablo is a player I brought to Ipswich when he was a Spanish U21 player.
"He is very good with the ball played into his feet, he is tenacious and has good vision.
"We have had to work hard with him and have extra training and he has knuckled down.
"He hasn’t been a regular since he has come here but he has shown that he is still a very good player.
"I thought he linked up well with James Vaughan with one terrific pass in the second half that put James through, which was quality.
"Overall I'm pleased for him because he hasn't had it easy in the past year or so training with the kids at Ipswich, but he has shown what a talented player he is.
"Hopefully that performance will give him great confidence to push on."
Speaking about the performance against Doncaster Burley added: "We knew they are a good side, a passing side and we put an attacking team out to put them under pressure and to stop them having any time on the ball at the back.
"We pressed them high up the park rather than backing off and overall the back four were solid with a clean sheet, which you are always looking for.
"It was an end-to-end type of game with some very good individual performances, so I was very pleased."
Meanwhile Alex Marrow is set to have a scan on his ankle after being forced off only 14 minutes into the match at the weekend.
