Fletcher flees to Forest

October 16 2008

Carl Fletcher

Carl Fletcher

Crystal Palace midfielder Carl Fletcher has joined Nottingham Forest on loan for six weeks.

The Wales international has dropped down the pecking order at Palace and is in need of first team games.

Fletcher has not started since March after losing his place in the side to Shaun Derry and boss Neil Warnock reckons the move will do him good.

Warnock said: "I spoke to Colin Calderwood when we were up there and they have got a lot of youngsters and I think he’s probably just the kind of player they need to keep them all together and start turning the corner.

"It is a good club Forest with good fans and good atmosphere. Carl wants a few games and there’s nothing like first team football, every player will tell you that."
