Kennedy goes to Cardiff

July 10 2008

Mark Kennedy

Mark Kennedy

Former Crystal Palace midfielder Mark Kennedy has joined Cardiff City on a free.

The Irishman was released by Palace at the end of last season after an injury-hit campaign of just eight appearances.

Kennedy, 32, had worked with Cardiff boss Dave Jones before when the pair were at Wolves.

"We need a squad of 22 players to compete, Mark is a welcome addition," said Cardiff chief Peter Ridsdale.

"He is an experienced pro, an experienced international and will add some competition, which we need.

"He can play on the left, but also in the centre of midfield where we need more bodies available."

The Dublin-born former Millwall and Liverpool player was signed by Peter Taylor on a free transfer from Wolves two years ago.
