Dougie Freedman reckons Crystal Palace are too good to be involved in a fight against relegation.
Palace plunged into the bottom three of the Championship after a 2-0 defeat at home to Watford on Monday night.
But the striker believes new manager Neil Warnock can turn around the Eagles' woeful start to the campaign.
"Somebody asked me about that the other day and I was shocked we were in the relegation zone," said Freedman.
"I'm not one for looking at tables and panicking - but I really didn't think we were that low.
"But no way are we going to be involved in a relegation fight if we are true to ourselves. If you ask all the other members of the squad it's not even a thought.
"We will get a few results and players will come in and some will go. There's too much quality in this squad.
"We are third bottom of the league so we are not playing well so the manager needs to put his ideas onto the pitch and I'm sure he will do that."
