Peter Taylor insists he didn't deserve to be abused after Palace slumped out of the FA Cup.
Angry Palace fans jeered Taylor after Preston knocked out the Eagles for the second successive season.
Palace were outplayed in the second half as goals from David Nugent and Kelvin Wilson left the Selhurst Park faithful fuming.
But Taylor believes he is doing everything he can to turn the club's stuttering season around and told the fans to get off his back.
"I wasn't very impressed by that, to be honest," Taylor said.
"Here, if you win you get clapped off and if you lose you get booed, there's no in between at all.
"As a manager, I always work and try as hard as I can.
"I saw quite a few of the Preston players coming off at the end, watching our fans and looking a bit stunned.
"It's hard to take but we have to get over it."
