Peter Taylor is desperate to lead Crystal Palace on an FA Cup run to make up for the worst moment of his career.
Taylor was in charge of Leicester when the then-Premiership team suffered a humiliating quarter-final defeat against lowly Wycombe.
To compound Taylor’s misery the winning goal was scored by Roy Essandoh, a striker who had only just join Wycombe after answering an appeal for players on Ceefax.
The Eagles boss, whose side host League Two Swindon in the third round this afternoon, would love to erase those bitter memories with a long run in the competition this season.
Taylor said: “Don’t remind me about the Wycombe game. That was a bad day.
“I’m going to put out a full-strength team against Swindon because they are a decent side and I don’t want to be on the end of any more shocks.
“I’m sure some of our players have had some bad moments in the competition as well and they will be determined to go through.
“Because of our league form I’m desperate for us to have a little bit of a run in it and if we could get through a couple of rounds it keeps the bank manager happy.”
