Peter Taylor was seething after Palace's defensive horror-show handed Cardiff the points.
Eagles boss Taylor was furious with the way his back-four struggled to contain Cardiff striker Michael Chopra, who scored one and set up Riccardo Scimeca's winner.
The 2-1 defeat continued Palace's erratic start to the season and piled more pressure on Taylor, whose side are now nine points behind the Welsh table-toppers.
Taylor said: "That performance was by no means dreadful but we gave the goals away.
"The defending was very poor for the first goal but I thought we recovered well. But again their second goal was as a result of us playing in a risky area. They've nicked it and gone on to score.
"But Cardiff are a strong, well-balanced team which is no surprise with Dave Jones in charge. And Chopra looks an excellent player, he played tremendously well.
"If they don't get hit by injuries then they'll be close."
