Sam Togwell has joined Barnsley for an undisclosed fee.
The midfielder spent the tail end of last season on loan at Port Vale where fans voted him their young player of the year.
Vale had a £50,000 bid rejected by Palace and Togwell last week said he wanted to fight his way into the Palace first team.
But Barnsley stepped in with an improved offer to land the 21-year-old Palace academy product on a two-year contract.
Togwell made four Eagles appearances and had successful loan spells at Oxford and Northampton.
