Clinton Morrison

Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has told Clinton Morrison to keep his gob shut.

Morrison hinted manager Iain Dowie would be quiting the club last week after a big bust-up with Jordan.

Dowie walked out of Selhurst Park yesterday after two-and-a-half years in charge claiming he wanted a new challenge.

And a furious Jordan said Morrison should not discuss club affairs in public and is set to fine the Eagles striker for his outburst.

"Clinton needs to engage his brain before he opens his mouth, and he will be told that when he returns to the club," said Jordan.

"He needs to learn when to speak and when to be quiet, and Clinton should not talk about people like Iain Dowie and myself.

"When he comes back from international duty [with the Republic of Ireland], he will probably be given a kick up the backside.

"Clinton is Clinton. I have known him for a long time, I know his mother, and I don't think there is any malice there.

"The problem is that he gets in front of a camera and forgets that he's opened his mouth. But whether he is fined is between Clinton and myself."
