Palace have attempted to hijack Norwich's bid for old-boy Clinton Morrison.
Norwich have already held talks with the Republic of Ireland international and had a bid of £2 million accepted by Birmingham City.
Morrison is keen to leave Birmingham City after dropping down the pecking order.
Palace assistant boss Neil McDonald said after the game on Saturday: "We need a player like that [Clinton Morrison], someone who can work in the box and put the ball in the back of the net.
"I am not sure whether we have put in an offer for him yet."
Despite McDonald's comments, it emerges that Palace have met the asking price of £2 million, and now it is up to the player on who he chooses.
"We have agreed a fee with Palace for Clinton," said Steve Bruce.
"They have matched the offer from Norwich City and it is now down to the player."
Southampton have also showed an interest in the Tooting born player, but it is unclear whether they have met Birmingham's valuation of the player.
If Morrison decided to join Palace, it would complete an amazing saga between Birmingham City and the Eagles.
Andy Johnson originally signed for Palace in the deal which took Morrison to St. Andrews - but now he could end up playing with Morrison as his strike partner.
