Sam Togwell returned to the reserve side following his broken leg as the Eagles were held to a goalless draw by Wycombe.
The right-back suffered his injury in a match away to Bristol Rovers in February and came through the 90 minutes unscathed.
Following a dull first half against Wycombe, the second period sprung into life as Tariq Nabil fired over the bar from 20 yards on the hour. Then a minute later, Wycombe keeper Frank Talia saved Ben Surey's strike.
Karem Bashkal fired wide before Gibson's shot was saved by Talia. Second half sub Gavin Heeroo tested Talia in the 85th minute but the Eagles could break the deadlock.
Palace: Cronin, Togwell, Head, Wilson, Gibson, Surey (Heeroo), Riihilahti, Soares (Berry), Nabil, Bashkal, Simpson.
Sub not used: El-Sahali.
