New signing Andy Johnson was pleased with his own performance last night, and now can't wait for the season to start proper.
Johnson played a big part in Palace's draw with neighbouring Charlton on Monday night, showing that his pace is his lethal weapon to unlock the defences of the First Division this season.
He partnered Dougie Freedman in attack in the first half, and then partnered his old Birmingham teammate Dele Adebola in the second half.
Johnson told the official website: "When I came here some of the lads told me that the fans will warm to you if you give them 100 per cent.
"That's what I did out there tonight and I think it went pretty well. I was pleased with my overall performance and I think everybody was top class out there tonight."
Johnson was unlucky on several occasions not to net a goal in the game, although he won the freekick that Freedman eventually scored from.
"All I can do is my best," he added. "I was disappointed not to put one in but I think their keeper made some good saves.
"I remember winning the free kick on the edge of the box and thinking 'we can get one here.' If Dougie can play like he did tonight all season then I think we'll be pushing for automatic promotion."
